"connection to server has timed out" datastore browser ESXI
Hey this is a rather quick one I ran across
When trying to transfer a whole virtual machine off of an ESXI box I got a rather genaric error when it came to transferring the vmdk file to my local machine using the data store browser
"connection to server has timed out" was the only error message
While this seems like a common problem for large files in my case it was much simpler, the virtual was powered up.
Power down the virtual and you should be good to transfer
